LGBT+ @ Sky
LGBT+ @ Sky: Our vision: Change hearts and minds; make society more LGBT+ inclusive
Sky works hard to be an inclusive employer, so that everyone at Sky can be their best. Diversity of thought leads to new ideas and keeps us innovating.
Here at LGBT+@Sky, we recognise that we have the responsibility and the opportunity to change hearts and minds not only in the workplace but in wider British society.
Our network
Our incredible network of nearly 2,000 employees across the UK and ROI is the beating heart of everything we do. Our members are a rich assortment of LGBT+ colleagues and non-LGBT+ Allies who are keen to make Sky an inclusive place to work for everyone.
We provide support, advice and guidance for all our LGBT+ colleagues and make sure that our Champions activate the diversity agenda to all corners of the country.
All of this amazing work has meant that we are now the #1 Media company in the UK for LGBT+ inclusion, according to Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index, we support over 10 national Pride events every year and, according to our internal employee satisfaction recording, our LGBT colleagues at Sky are more even more engaged than non-LGBT colleagues.
Our work
On top of the day-to-day support we provide for our LGBT colleagues, we engage with plenty of external partners to spread the word of inclusion to our customers and the wider industry.
Internally, we work with our On Demand, Commissioning and Sky Store teams to make sure LGBT content is always available on screen for our customers. Further afield, we are a Stonewall Diversity Champion to ensure everything we do is aligned with best industry practice, and through the Rainbow Laces programme, we’re helping towards the fight against homophobia in sport.
We’re extremely excited about our new partnership with Gaydio. We’ll be empowering our Champions and Sky colleagues to share their stories, focus on all aspects of the LGBT+ community, put a lens on intersectionality with our other employee networks and engage with local organisations and charities.
We hope that through our work, we can encourage all our colleagues and customers to #JustBe.
