If you’re passionate about selling and are self-motivated, then we have an exciting opportunity for you. We are Gaydio, the UK’s only radio station for LGB&T people. We broadcast on DAB Digital Radio across London, Brighton, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cambridge and Portsmouth to a weekly audited audience of half a million people. We have recently been awarded an FM licence for Brighton and Hove and have been broadcasting on FM in Manchester since 2010.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Agency Account Manager, passionate about winning new business with proven experience of selling to agencies. You will ideally be based in Manchester, where our office is or be based in London or a commutable distance into London. Either way you’ll be in the office with us one day per week and the remainder of the week you will be meeting with agency clients and your own direct client portfolio.
You will concentrate your time on building up your client base, sourcing new business, developing creative campaign ideas, while demonstrating key account management skills and retaining client business. The ideal candidate will have a background in selling radio, a good understanding of advertising agencies an understanding of the LGBT market.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote the Gaydio brand, becoming an ambassador for the station
- Seeking new business opportunities, mainly with agency clients, but with some direct client crossover
- To devise and plan bespoke campaigns to meet the customers objectives, coming up with exciting creative solutions
- To work with the production team to implement campaign ideas - making sure we deliver on time
- To account manage the client, reporting back results to them.
Key Measure of Success
- To achieve monthly sales revenue targets
- To achieve your monthly KPI targets
- To ensure full accurate information about the deliverables is passed onto the relevant teams
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will;
- Have a proven records of selling radio to agency clients (essential)
- Understand the role of a media agency and be able to describe the media agency purchasing process (essential)
- Have live agency contacts, enabling you to make a quick start (desirable)
- Experience of agency planning systems, audience data (such as TGI and RAJAR) (desirable)
- Able to respond quickly to campaign objectives with great ideas (essential)
- Is comfortable working in-the-field and which may include irregular hours (essential)
- Be a confident self-starter who is pro-active, sense of responsibility, friendly and can work independently (essential)
- Have excellent negotiation skills (essential)
- Great face-to-face and telephone communication skills (essential)
- Able to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment (essential)
- Good attention to detail (essential)
- Open and honest, with an ability to develop personal integrity quickly (essential)
- Good IT skills (essential)
- Good numeracy skills (essential)
- Is willing to undertake training and development as and when required (essential)
- Has an understanding of the needs and lifestyles of LGB&T people (essential), but does not need to identify as LGB or T themselves
- Full Clean Driving License (desirable)
